Wiesner Clamp: Pros & Cons
What Is Included Inside the Wiesner’s Box?
The Wiesner clamp comes with a bag, three adjustable guides, an instruction manual and the clamp itself. This box feels nice. It’s much nicer than the UraStop, Bard Cunningham and KindKlamp packages.
- 1x Incontinence Clamp.
- 1x User Manual.
- 1x Power Sleeve
- 3x Adjustable Guides
How Does the Wiesner Incontinence Clamp Work?
This clamp opens up if you put pressure on the catch (don’t apply too much pressure as the catch could break). This is a common complaint from it’s users and I second this concern. Once you center the shaft in the clamp, you close the arms and lock them together using the catch. Adjust the pressure of the catch by pressing the arms together. You will hear a snap at each adjustment point. To open the clamp, use your hands to put pressure on the catch and it will release the catch. This clamp needs two hands to operate.
Comfort / Adjustable
The Wiesner Clamp comes with 3 adjustment guides. There is a small, medium, and large. As you can see you will need to move the blue rubber to cover each of those guides, which isn’t ideal and while doing so I recently lost the rubber making my clamp useless. Switching between the three sizes isn’t easy so hopefully you can find the size that is right for you.
The clamp is comfortable at first but as you wearing it, it begins to slide up and down. I think this is because of the rubber they chose to make the pads out of. Had they go with a silicone I don’t think this would be happening. The rubber irritates my skin very quickly and I need to apply lotion daily or as they suggest.
The Wiesner Incontinence Clamp comes with a pretty nice instruction guide. As you can see there are images to help the user understand how to operate the device. It does leave out some tips regarding changing the guides, like how to slide them in and out. You see it does matter which direction the guide is facing because if you put them in the wrong way there is no way they will be centered.
Summary
This clamp is the nicest in comparison to all the clamps I have tried (UraStop, Bard Cunningham and KindKlamp), but it doesn’t feel like it should be $39. This device feels like it cost about $4 to make. You can see the mold lines on the product and the guides are a different material than the white clamp arms. It feels kind of thrown together.
There is no metal which is nice. So not all is bad, but another problem is the customer service is no existent. I lost my blue rubber pad and when asking for a replacement they didn’t even reply to my email. I left a review on Amazon.com and they told me to buy a new clamp. For these reasons, I give this a 3-star review overall.
